I got caught up in a similar situation at the Edinburgh G8. I can understand the police tactic of isolating groups so their isn't a mass riot, but getting lots of people trapped in a claustrophobic situation with no timescale, who would rather leave, with no information, surely does nothing but antagonise those that might normally be reasonable and peaceful.
